A Day In Ramadan: Faith and Anticipation
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most Merciful
PREFACE
PREFACE
Indeed all praise belongs to Allah, we praise Him, seek His aid and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allah from the evil of our souls and evil of our actions. Whomsoever Allah guides there is none to misguide and whomsoever Allah misguides there is none to guide him. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah without any partners and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.
O Allah send Your Mercy on Muhammad and his posterity as You sent Your mercy on Abraham and his posterity. You are the Most Praised, The Most Glorious. O Allah, send Your Blessings on Muhammad and his posterity as You have blessed Abraham and his posterity. You are the Most praised, The Most Glorious.

To proceed:
O beloved brothers and sisters,
The breezes of mercy have blown, the glad tidings have arrived with bonding to those who had been divided, amnesty to the guilty and the setting free to those who deserve the fire. What great glad tidings!
Who is more honorable than one whom was honored by Allah the Greatest, the Guardian? Who is more satisfied than one whom He exclusively ennobled? Who is closer to Him than one whom He selected for the greatest victory? What worry could one have after being commended by Allah the Wise, the Powerful, saying “Verily, the pious and righteous will be in Delight (paradise)” [Quran 82:13].
Satan has been chained, Fire has been put out, and the command of desires has been sent into the exile.
There are no excuses left for the wrong-doers.
O clouds of remissness on the hearts heave! O suns of piety and faith rise!
O records of deeds of the fasting ascend! O hearts of the fasting ones worship in humbleness and humility! O feet of the praying ones in the night kneel to thy Lord and prostrate! O eyes of the hard workers do not fall to sleep! O land of desires swallow your water, and O sky of selfishness withhold your rain!
O wills of the loving ones do not be satisfied with anything but Allah!
For on these days, the table spread has been extended for the fasting ones, such that nobody is left uninvited: “O our people! Respond (with obedience) to Allah’s Caller." [Quran 46:31]

O wills of the believers respond with haste. Blessings be to whomever responds righteously, and woe to those who were expelled from the gate and were banished.
O beloved brothers and sisters ...
The messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever establishes the prayers on the night of Qadr with (sincere) faith and anticipation (for Allah's rewards) then all his past sins shall be forgiven. Whoever fasts Ramadan with faith and anticipation, then all his past sins shall be forgiven. "[Bukhari and Muslim]
He also said (may peace and blessings be upon him) "…and whoever establishes the prayer on the night of Qadr with sincere faith and anticipation, then all his past sins shall be forgiven." [Bukhari and Muslim]
Whenever Ramadan welcomes us, I am halted by the condition of faith and anticipation my thirst for understanding was never quenched by what I read in the books of interpretation. So I began collecting all the hadeeths in which anticipation
was mentioned, and it drew my attention more to find out that the prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned it whenever a great deed or reward was brought up:

was mentioned, and it drew my attention more to find out that the prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned it whenever a great deed or reward was brought up:
Like Jihad, for example, the struggle in the cause of Allah. It has been narrated on the authority o Abu Qatadah that the Messenger of Allah ( may peace and blessings be upon him) stood up among them (companions) to deliver his sermon in which he told them that Jihad in the cause of Allah and belief in Allah are the most meritorious of deeds. A man stood up and said: “Messenger of Allah, do you think that if I am killed in the cause of Allah, my sins will be blotted out from me?” The Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Yes, in case you are killed in the cause of Allah and you were patient and anticipating (for Allah's reward) and you always fought facing the enemy, never turning your back upon them.” Then he added, “What have you just asked (now)?” [Wishing to have further assurance from him for his satisfaction], the man asked again, “Do you think if I am killed in the cause of Allah, all my sins will be obliterated from me?” The Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Yes, if you were patient and anticipating and always fought facing the enemy and never turning your back upon him, (then all your sins would be forgiven) except debt. Angel Gabriel has just told me this.” [Narrated by Muslim]
Secondly, patience during severe hardships, as Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, the wife of the Prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I asked the messenger of Allah about the plague. He told me that it was a punishment sent by Allah on whom he wished, and Allah made it a source of mercy for the believers, for if one in the time of an epidemic plague stays in his town with patience, anticipation for Allah's reward and believing that nothing will befall him except what Allah has written for him, he will get the reward of a martyr." [Bukhari]
Also, following funeral processions. Narrated Abu Huraira: the messenger of Allah said, "Whoever accompanies the funeral procession of a Muslim out of (sincere) faith and anticipation (for Allah's reward) and remains with it till the funeral prayer is offered and the burial ceremonies are over, will return with a reward of two carats. Each Carat is like the size of (Mount) Uhud. He who offers the funeral prayer only and returns before the burial, will return with the reward of one carat only."[Bukhari]
It appeared to me that I should dig into this noble meaning, and therefore be able the collect any good intentions that can be anticipated during Ramadan. Meanwhile, I will work through faith; how to perform such acts in the perfect manner, so that they are in the likelihood of acceptance.
I rolled up my sleeves for the hard work ahead of me, and Allah bestowed some of His support upon me that I was able to write this letter (One day in Ramadan: Faith and Anticipation). I hereby ask Allah to accept this work sincerely for Him, to be honest in what I intended, and that goodness would prevail through this work, in request for reward and everything that draws closer to Allah.
This – and Allah knows best – is like an effort of a lazy, and a power of a weak who barely moves. Therefore if I was right in any detail, then it is for you and you have not a worry. And if I was erred then it is on me, and I accept your blame.
I seek refuge in Allah from false sayings, erroneous opinions and vanity. O Allah, forgive my slips and daring mischief, and let not my religion be only on my tongue, and grant me honesty in my intention, words and deeds.

Oh Allah, I seek refuge in you from poorness unless to you, from humiliation unless to you, from fear unless of you. Oh Allah, I seek refuge in you from speaking falsely, behaving sinfully, or being arrogant in You. Oh Allah, I renounce my abilities and capabilities before You, and I seek shelter in Your Ability and Capability, there is no god but You, Glory and Praise is all due to You. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers. Oh Allah! Nothing is easy except what you have made easy. If you wish, you can turn the difficulty to ease.
